Our superhero photoshoot experience is among the most popular of our themed photoshoots for children, and it’s no surprise. After all, what child wouldn’t want to dress up and have fun and be made to feel and look like their favourite superhero character?
Soaring through the skies, saving the world…yep! We can make it all happen for your superhero-loving child at either one of our photography studios, whether at Darley Abbey in Derby or in Stotfold in Bedfordshire.
What is a superhero photoshoot?
A superhero-themed photoshoot is a fantastic way to create lasting memories for your child and to make them feel invincible!
What’s special about a Pop! Studios superhero photo shoot?
When we set out to create our special superhero shoots, we were inspired by those huge Hollywood sets that you’d see in places like Universal Studios.
We use green screens for some of the shots and overlay the superhero photography backdrop, but we also wanted to make the superhero photography backdrops as 3D and immersive as possible.
That way, the kids can physically climb on rocks and lift those heavy chunks of falling buildings to rescue people. (Parents - don’t worry, these ‘rocks’ and chains are props that are actually light as feathers!).
Yes, it took a lot of thought and effort, but we’re really proud of what we have achieved with our superhero sets.
What’s lovely is that we are always getting complimented on our sets and the immersive backdrops by parents, who are pleasantly surprised at the quality of them. The kids always love it as well, which is the best endorsement of all.

In order to create a timeless piece of art, and to make the photoshoot truly magical, we ensure that your child has the perfect superhero outfit. They can choose from our own selection of superhero outfits, which are a nod to your child’s favourite hero.
We also have a wardrobe full of accessories and superhero photo props like masks, capes, shields, and utility belts to complete the look. After all, the details matter!
4. Creative superhero photo ideas
Having worked with hundreds of children on superhero shoots, we know exactly how to you’re your child and to keep them engaged throughout their time with us.
We have endless superhero photo ideas, and will encourage your child to strike a wide variety of suitably heroic poses during the photoshoot – it’s all great fun and we’re confident that they’ll love it!
We’ll include action shots and storytelling elements as well. For example, we’ll capture your child mid-flight or as they are wielding their amazing superpowers, and encourage them to express themselves in a variety of ways to make the portraits all the more vivid!
5. Truly epic superhero backgrounds
Our superhero backdrops are special and our sets have been custom-designed by us, so you won’t get the same experience anywhere else.
Our digital backdrops finish off the pictures we take to create the stunning superhero images (as shown here), and we use both digital backdrops and 3D sets to really bring the magic to life!

Our superhero photoshoot experiences include:
• 1-hour theatrical experience in the studio
• Expert digital magic applied
• 1-hour private cinematic viewing (allow 1-2 weeks for your return appointment)
• 1 x mug and 2 x keyrings (same image)
These themed photoshoots can become even more memorable by including siblings. Mum and Dad are welcome to join in too!
Please note that a maximum of 3 children may take part, and these must be siblings. For additional siblings, please contact the studio before booking.
Some of our favourite superhero photoshoots
One of our fondest memories from our superhero shoots to date has to be the time that Taylor came in for his session. At only 8 months old he was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia (meningitis type W).
He has had both legs, fingers and thumbs amputated, yet he is still our little fighter! We are so proud to present Taylor’s story to you in our video. We hope it makes you smile.
Girl power!
We also love having girls in for hero shoots. There’s nothing like a bit of girl power is there?
Just like the boys, girls can do incredible things, just like their heroes.
For example, lift their big brother above their head during a superhero shoot! (Don’t worry that part is edited in – it’s a great example of our clever post-production magic!)
